Iris Casting Workspace

Making space to be seen

IRIS is a digital platform bringing talent, casting professionals, directors and producers into one shared environment. Casting decides who gets seen. Yet the process itself is often shaped by fragmented workflows, overloaded systems and constant pressure.

Casting is sensitive work

An iris is an aperture that decides how much light enters. Casting, in its own way, decides who gets seen.
The process sits somewhere between intuition and structure. It requires careful decisions, clear information and efficient workflows, but it also involves people at vulnerable moments in their professional lives.

When the system becomes overloaded, the experience can easily become transactional. A nervous system under pressure is neither free nor creative. IRIS set out to create a platform that holds the structure, so that the people using it have more room to focus on the work itself.

How do you design structure without making the experience feel mechanical?

The platform needed to bring together several groups with different needs: talent, casting agents, casting directors, directors, producers… Each participant enters the process from a different perspective.

The challenge was not simply to create a recognisable visual identity. The brand needed to support a complex digital environment while remaining calm, intuitive and human. It had to communicate professionalism without becoming cold. Structure without becoming rigid. Character without competing with the people at the centre of the process.

Leaving room to simply be.

An iris controls light. Casting determines who is brought into view. This connection informed the visual language, but it was not used as a literal metaphor. Instead, the identity was built around the idea of creating the right conditions for visibility.

The work developed through detailed conversations with the IRIS team and a clear shared vision of what the platform should become.

Every element had to balance several qualities at once:

  • Emotion and functionality
  • Intuition and structure
  • Precision and openness

The result is an identity designed to support the experience rather than dominate it. In casting, the platform should not become the main character, the people should.
