Senior Service Designer

We are looking for talented, ambitious and strategic Senior Service Designers to join our growing team of award-winning designers, developers, researchers, and producers.

What would you do in Velvet?

A Service Designer in Velvet designs services, service offers, service strategies and service experiences that create value for users, organisations and society. Service Designers work both in the front- and back- end of services, orchestrating change and alignment.

Service Designers in Velvet have the great opportunity to expand their skillset by working with clients in both the public and private sector.

As a Service Designer in Velvet, we expect you to contribute service design expertise to multidisciplinary team projects taking full ownership of the service design activities from scoping to delivery.

What is the role?

As a Velvet service designer you will contribute to the team by:

  • Planning, scoping and defining service design projects and activities together with clients
  • Creating different types of visualisations for service : Stakeholder maps, offer mapping, journeys
  • Strategising and conduting user research
  • Articulating a valuable design strategy to meet the client’s goals, users’ needs and social impact
  • Creating multiple concepts for a service offer, experience or journey 
  • Designing excellent service experiences for users and providers
  • Creating systemically and operationally sustainable services
  • Advocating for the creation of humane services
  • Empathically guiding the client through the design process
  • Collaborating and engaging with other disciplines and team members for the success of the project
  • Driving the understanding of service design and act as an ambassador for the discipline in house 

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a person with at least 4 years of experience designing services from conception to implementation. Especially, we are looking for designers with a strong skillset for strategy and implementation. 

You are a great fit if you have the following skills and experience:

  • 4+ years of professional experience designing services (even if you role was not “service designer”)
  • Excellent visual communication skills- visualising complexity and intangibility
  • Proven ability to scope projects and guide clients through design decisions
  • Ability to clearly connect design strategy to business strategy
  • Curious, want to learn from people and their experiences
  • Proven experience conducting user research, creating
  • Co-creation tools, methods and frameworks
  • Strong focus on outcomes, not only process
  • Experience implementing services: from plans and roadmaps to trainings
  • Software: MIRO, Figma, and basic presentation software
  • Excellent communication skills in Estonian and English (Russian, Finnish & Spanish are a plus!)
